ACW Planning

I’m looking to arrange a game of Brigade Fire and Fury next month. I’m avoiding doing a specific scenario, partly as it’s too restrictive in terms of OOB and partly as I’d likely need to get lots more terrain sorted. However, the plan is to us  the random armies from www.fireandfury.co.uk and just use whatever terrain I have ready…

We are looking at 5-6 players of which 2-3 have used the rules before. It’s a friendly game, aiming to last about 6-7 hours including a break for lunch. I reckon two corps a side would work and am maybe looking at Union:

Exceptional commanders would roll as suggested and equally a roll made on the Random Event table on the site for a little variety!

What I’m concerned about is the size of the forces for the number of players and the time available? Is two corps a side about right? Could it stretch to three? Or maybe a third coming on after so many turns?

Or give the CSA a defensive position and two corps vs three?
