Well, after a few months of quite regular posting the last month seems to have flown by with nothing. Not that I’ve been doing nothing hobby related… But retirement is proving an rather unsettling experience. Not helped by dog related shenanigans, daughter returning from Uni, and Easter holidays. So although it’s only been 6 weeks it feel rather like an extended holiday. I’m sure I’ll sort a new routine soon and things will drop into. Not been helped by a recurrence of a health issue a couple off weeks ago which has rather thrown me and has meant I’ve had to pull out of the annual Ayton event over the coming Bank Holiday. Not happy but I think for the best…
So what have I managed since the last Assassins update? Well, I’ve made to my local club, Whitley Bay 3D Gamers who now are located at Bay Games, the local game shop/venue. Nice and convenient and run by nice people. So far I’ve been joining Lawrence, Norm and others with Pocket Midgard. 6mm Fantasy on 40mm front bases. Nice and compact (if occasionally a little fiddly) but good fun. Some pics from recent games:

And showing that restraint and focus on existing projects for which I’m renowned… I have a load of 6mm Dwarves coming!
I also had a good day in Hartlepool at the Royal Navy Museum where I met up with Essex Bay (Iain Burt – check is blog despite glacially slow updates…). Well worth a visit and HMS Tricomolee is excellent. Though might have had too much wine that day as well…

But back to hobby stuff… A recent visit to the excellent Midlam Miniatures saw me grab a few more figures and complete another Foundry figure. Lovely characterful figures and a joy to paint.

And these are yet more Foundry Pirates and gun.

Next up some Musket and Tomahawk colonial civilians (from Northstar). Two of them had weapon removed and replaced with one of the Midlam flaming torches. I’d also picked up two of the Frostgrave Ghouls and remembered I had three Ghouls from Heresy Miniatures. A little faffy pinning and sticking the parts together but nice figures. I tried following a guide online for painting Ghouls. Followed to the letter but mine look nothing like the ones online! But I’m happy enough with them…

And finally these… I bought a pack of the Frostgrave Crewmen and so made a start on those. Used a space artillery bit to make another gunner and will likely do the same on another couple. It did remind me how much I hate sticking together plastic figures!! I also bought the resin conversion pack to make the figures more 18th Century pirate-like. A little expensive but seems to work. Again, faffy to stick together and faffy to get my primer to take! Have ten figures on the go so hopeful get those done soon.

And there we have it. A month of random stuff. I’ve also been making a list of projects and what I may or may not want to add to them. It’s a longer list than I would like but it is a start to planning for the rest of the year. But next up will be the 6mm Dwarves!
Just remains to say I’ll hopefully get the updates more regular from now on and to wish the Ayton guys a great weekend. Gutted I’m not there.
