Another Slight Diversion – 5 (and maybe 6!)

Ok, true to form, I seem to have slipped the leash of willpower and slid into another scale, if not another period, and also dragged another scale into an earler period!

First up, Force on Force. I really liked the look of these and saw some good reports so have picked up the rules and first book. However, I really want to use them to do late 80s Cold War so will be waiting on that book. In the meantime I have bought some Platoon 20 figures and have some Elheim and Under Fire on the way as well! I’ll hold off on vehicles for a little while as I want to give the rules a good try first.

And secondly, Ian and others at the local Clubs are starting to dabble in Arab-Israeli 1967. Needless to say, I swore blind I would not be dragged into another period/theater and needless to say, I’ve just bought a rather nice 3000pt Israeli force! 🙂 I MAY be tempted to do a little 3000 point Arab force using spare Soviet stuff as well… Not that I’m getting into anything new of course!

And I can see the year slipping away and then having to paint loads of 28mm for the next Ayton game in a mad rush next year!

  1. Andy, Andy, Andy ,,,,, It's a slippery slope you're on my friend! I spent months and months trying to find a period and scale to stick to and finally I've committed myself to 1/72nd Naps .. No diversions …none …. Though WW11 in this scale is also a big draw to me personally… Oh, and 6mm ACW I like the look of….

  3. Well it's all sort of the same period. And only slightly bigger for skirmishes!

I'm beginning to struggle with the smaller stuff. Eyesight going downhill (along with the rest of me…). And I really enjoyed doing the 28mm stuff earlier this year!

No more new stuff this year, honest!

This does give me the option of painting my spare old Soviet stuff as Arab rather than just painting LOADS of it as Russian!

  4. Very true. I moved away from 6mm for the sake of my eyesight and sanity!

Good luck with the new project(s)!

  6. Yea I keep saying that until something else catches my eye…;) What rules are you using and who makes all the figures and tanks for that period?

  7. I have to say the Eurofed are really nice, and 1967 is a nice period, with very balanced forces. It comes down to command and surprise, which CWC handles very well.

  8. I think I may need to update the Painting Plan soon. It's going to be a bit embarrassing if I have to cross out the 2011 next year and STILL have no more red boxes!
