Quick Pre-Partizan Update

Ayton looked to have been an excellent weekend. Lots of pics from the games over on the LAW Forum. Still gutted to have missed it…

Still a little unsettled and rudderless though. I’ve still been making it to my local club and still playing lots of Pocket Midgard. And to that end, the guys at the club intend to launch in to the newly published Iron Valley campaign and so I placed an order with Irregular (https://irregular2mm6mm.onlineweb.shop) for some 6mm Dwarves. The castings came pretty quick and they were very helpful in tweaking things to get what I wanted. However, some of them were a little ropey which given the age of the range is unsurprising. Some better than others though. I raised this with them and plans are afoot to sort the moulds. But overall, happy with them.

The lists require goat riders, bears, giants, giant ravens etc… none of which are readily available in 6mm… There may be 3D print available but I’d rather stick to lead where I can… So an order to Pendraken got me a flock of birds (which painted black will pass as giant ravens), giants, goats (which will be giant fighting goats!) and bears (which although big will do…

So first lot of figures done:

Also been working on the Frostgrave Crewmen boxed set (yes, yes, I know I don’t like plastic figures…) as a way of bolstering the pirate types for when I finally make up the other big 3D printed ship. To make them more traditional pirate types I didn’t use any of the more ‘eastern’ heads and no bows. And I also picked up the resin conversion kit which provides some tricorn heads and musket and pistol arms. Very useful but a little faffy sticking resin to plastic and the arms cast holding muskets are just a tad too far apart so makes sticking them a pain. But once done they all come pout pretty well. Maybe not typical pirate type and more corsair but for what I want they are spot on.

I still have one sprue to make up and will be picking up some plastic artillery tools at Partizan to make them up as gun crew.

And yes, this weekend is Partizan. I have a small game planned on the Saturday with Dave Hall (check out his blog) and it will be good to see Dave after missing Ayton. And there are hopefully a good few people attending the show to catch up with. I’ve not got much on the shopping list (cutting back a little now retired): some bits from Baccus, Warbases, the plastic tools and that’s about it. I’m sure I’ll pick up some random stuff (more Foundry Pirates?) but I fully intend to not go overboard.

And I’ve been trying to put some plans in place (mostly hobby stuff at the moment but retirement plans in the offing) and have started on one of the many Notebooks I’ve picked up over the years (with new fountain pens). Just need to maintain it… and I’ve tidied the workbench a bit…

We shall see…
